When to Post Content Based on Time and Audience

Television always has a prime time, so it makes sense that social media does, too. If you want your content to be viewed and engaged with by as many people as possible, make sure you share it when your audience is actually online.

Post at the End of the Week

According to a study conducted by Buddy Media, engagement with content is 18% higher on Thursdays and Fridays. So in order to maximize the effectiveness of your social media advertising, post regularly- but especially towards the end of the week.

Post According to the Social Network

It’s no secret that most employees check their social media accounts at some point during their working day (unless my boss is reading this, in which case employees never check Facebook at work, ever). The best time of day to post your content is therefore during working hours. According to AddThis, this is between 9am-12pm on Facebook and between 2 and 3 pm on Twitter[1].

Remember Who and Where Your Audience Is

A lot depends on your audience, so make sure you have a planned target market.  It is also important to remember that the times zone of your audience is not necessarily your own. So if your company is based in Silicon Valley but your target audience is on the East Coast (where roughly 50% of Americans live), adjust your posting schedule accordingly.

But while it is important to take your audience into account, there are a number of other factors to consider when posting content on social media. Remembering them all will undoubtedly increase the effectiveness of your social media marketing campaigns.
